Basketball Recap: El Monte Snaps 20-Game Streak of Losses at Home

El Monte had to endure a 19-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. They pulled ahead with a 30-29 photo finish over the Rosemead Panthers on Friday. This was a revenge game for the Lions: when they faced off against the Panthers back in January, they had to take a 48-44 defeat.

Despite the loss, Rosemead still got an impressive performance from Rhys Anderson, who posted 18 points. The match was Anderson's 20th in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Preston Huynh, who earned seven points.

El Monte's victory ended a 20-game drought at home dating back to last season and bumped them up to 2-19. As for Rosemead, the loss snapped their winning streak at three games and leaves them with a 11-10 record.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. El Monte will venture away from home to challenge Mountain View at 6:30 p.m. on Monday. El Monte is facing Mountain View at the right time seeing as Mountain View is stuck on a three-game losing streak. Rosemead has already played their next contest (against Marshall), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
