Softball Recap: Riverside's Loss Ends Ten-Game Winning Streak at Home

Riverside dropped their record down to 19-10 on Tuesday, which also ended the team's ten-game streak of wins at home. They lost 8-2 to the St. Albans Red Dragons. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest loss the Warriors have suffered since May 3, 2024.

Riverside got a good showing from Lexi Osborne, who tossed 2.1 innings while giving up no earned runs off three hits.

On the hitting side, Riverside saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Shaylea Blackhurst, who went 1-for-3 with one home run.

As for St. Albans, their victory ended a five-game drought on the road and puts them at 13-10. Eight seems to be a good number for they as the team scooped up a win with the same number of runs in their previous game.

On St. Albans' side, Ava Bentley spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned runs on three hits and racked up 14 Ks. Bentley has been consistent for a while: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in 22 consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Cece Lackey was incredible, going 3-for-4 with one home run, two RBI, and one double. Alyssa Gibson was another key player, going 2-for-4 with one run, one double, and one RBI.

While Riverside had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
