Volleyball Recap: Downingtown East Beats Oxford for Their Sixth Straight Victory

Downingtown East had already won five in a row and they went ahead and made it six on Monday. They walked away with a 3-1 victory over the Oxford Hornets. The Cougars have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Hornets, too.

Downingtown East walked away with the win (and looked especially good in the fourth set). Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-20, 23-25, 25-21, 25-15.

Marisa Guan paced Downingtown East's offense, picking up 14 kills. Guan got some help from Paige Vanemon and her 24 assists. Ashley Januszko controlled things from the service line, finishing with six aces.

Downingtown East's victory bumped their record up to 18-4-4. As for Oxford, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 16-7-1.

We've got plenty of inter-conference action coming up soon. Downingtown East will square off against rival Great Valley at 4:45 p.m. on Wednesday. Meanwhile, Oxford is set to take on their familiar foe Bishop Shanahan at 6:45 p.m. on Wednesday.
