After losing to Lower Cape May the last time they met, Cedar Creek decided to demonstrate that turnabout is fair play. The Pirates put the hurt on the Tigers with a sharp 12-1 win on Wednesday. Considering the Pirates have won six games by more than eight runs this season, Wednesday's blowout was nothing new.

Matt Vanaman tossed a big game, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only two hits while striking out nine over five innings pitched. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two hits in three consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Ayden Chambers was a standout: he scored two runs while going 3-for-3. The team also got some help courtesy of Nolan Scholder, who scored two runs and stole a base while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances.

Cedar Creek always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .553. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Lower Cape May only posted an OBP of .261.

Cedar Creek's victory was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 7-1. Those home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.5 runs on average over those games. As for Lower Cape May, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-5.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Cedar Creek will welcome Mainland Regional at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Lower Cape May, they will be playing at home against Middle Township at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Panthers will roll in looking for their ninth straight victory, something the Tigers surely won't give up without a fight.
