The Rock Canyon Jaguars will head out to challenge the Fairview Knights at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. Rock Canyon is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.5 runs per game this season.
Rock Canyon took a loss when they played away from home on Monday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Thursday. They blew past Douglas County 8-2. The win continues a trend for the Jaguars in their matchups with the Huskies: they've now won three in a row.
Jacob Woods spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned (and one unearned) run on six hits and racked up six Ks. He is becoming a predictor of Rock Canyon's success: when he allows at most two earned runs the team is 4-2 (and 5-10 when he doesn't).

At the plate, Zach Perry was incredible, going a perfect 4-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. Rock Canyon is 7-1 when Perry posts two or more runs, but 2-11 otherwise. Gavin Crawley also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.
They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Rock Canyon kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. They are 5-2 when they post 11 or more hits.
Meanwhile, Fairview was able to grind out a solid victory over Horizon on Friday, taking the game 12-9. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Knights.
Finlay Boydston looked comfortable as he tossed 2.1 innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits.
On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Jack Espiritu-Niswonger, who went 3-for-5 with two triples, three runs, and one RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Cooper Neumann, who went 1-for-3 with three RBI, two runs, and one double.
Rock Canyon's record is now 9-12. As for Fairview, their record now sits at 13-9.
Fans could be in store for some top-tier slugging on Saturday. Rock Canyon hasn't had any problems when it comes to power this season, having averaged 0.5 home runs per game. However, it's not like Fairview struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 0.4 home runs. With so much power on both teams, it'll be down to the pitchers to keep the mound locked down.
Everything went Rock Canyon's way against Fairview in their previous matchup back in April of 2022, as Rock Canyon made off with a 25-3 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Jaguars since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
