Baseball Recap: Mountain View Starts Season with Victory Against Rocky Mountain

Mountain View took care of business in their home opener (barely) on Wednesday. They skirted past the Rocky Mountain Grizzlies 6-4. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Mavericks have posted against the Grizzlies since May 10, 2022.

Chris Maiocca looked comfortable as he pitched 2.1 innings while giving up just one earned run but no hits. What's more, he posted three strikeouts, the most he's had since back in April of 2024.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Carson Lupton, who scored a run while getting on base in all three of his plate appearances. Another player making a difference was Cade Burnham, who scored a run while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.

Looking ahead, Mountain View is taking a road trip to take on Bishop Kelly at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Rocky Mountain, they will square off against Kuna at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday.
