Softball Recap: Leuzinger Wins Going Away Against Lawndale

The home team had won the previous three meetings between Leuzinger and Lawndale, and Leuzinger kept the tradition alive. The Olympians blew past the Cardinals 11-1 on Tuesday. Considering the Olympians have won seven matchups by more than nine runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.

Victoria Gonzalez was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out eight batters over five innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits. Gonzalez was also big at the plate, going 1-for-4 with two RBI, one run, and one double. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in March.

In other batting news, Leuzinger got a massive performance out of Jacqueline (Jaycee) Chavez, who went 2-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. That's the most runs Chavez has posted since back in February. The team also got some help courtesy of Naleeah Cruz, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double.

Leuzinger hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. The team has now struck out at least four batters in three consecutive games.

Leuzinger's victory bumped their record up to 12-5. As for Lawndale, the loss snapped their winning streak at three games and leaves them with a 4-6 record.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: Leuzinger beat the Cardinals by a score of 19-5 on Thursday.
