Basketball Recap: Riverbend Takes a Tough Playoff Loss

It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact Riverbend can now relate to. They took a blow against the Lightridge Bolts on Wednesday, falling 72-41. The Bears' loss signaled the end of their three-game winning streak.

Riverbend lost despite a true team effort on offense. The best among them was Nyah Barnwell, who dropped a double-double with 12 points and 11 rebounds. She has been hot, having posted eight or more boards the last eight times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Mikenzi Via, who posted six points and six rebounds.

Riverbend's defeat dropped their record down to 15-9. As for Lightridge, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 18-8 record this season.

Riverbend does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Lightridge, they are taking a road trip to challenge Potomac Falls at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Potomac Falls will roll in looking for their eighth straight victory, something Lightridge surely won't give up without a fight.
