Softball Recap: Needles' Winning Streak Snapped at 11 Games

It was a good run, but Needles unfortunately witnessed the end of their 11-game winning streak on Monday. They fell just short of the Pahrump Valley Trojans by a score of 15-13. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest loss the Mustangs have suffered against the Trojans since March 10, 2016.

Audrina Bullchild was huge while hitting and pitching even without the win. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out 11 batters over seven innings while giving up four earned (and 11 unearned) runs off 13 hits. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in four consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 3-for-5 with two RBI.

In other batting news, Scotti Powell made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and scored four runs and stole two bases while going 4-for-5. Emmerson Powell was another key player, scoring a run while going 3-for-5.

The defeat was their first at home , dropping their record down to 16-6. As for Pahrump Valley, their victory bumped their record up to 17-7.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Needles will venture away from home to challenge GV Christian at 1:00 p.m. on the 23rd. As for Pahrump Valley, they will head out to take on The Meadows School at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The Trojans' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Mustangs have averaged an impressive 9.9 runs per game this season.
