Baseball Recap: Lompoc Comes Up Short

Lompoc extended their losing streak to four on Friday, dropping them down to 11-16. They were two runs away from ending the streak, but they lost a 6-4 heartbreaker at the hands of the Arroyo Grande Eagles. Unfortunately, that's the third time they've come up short against the Eagles this season, with their most recent loss being a 4-0 defeat on Wednesday.

As for Arroyo Grande, they pushed their record up to 20-8 with the victory, which was their fourth straight on the road. The road wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.0 runs on average over those games.

For Arroyo Grande's part, Zack Johnson looked comfortable as he tossed 3.2 innings while giving up no earned runs off four hits. Johnson has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in 13 consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Arroyo Grande let Ruben Servin and Tanner Bournonville run wild. Servin went 1-for-3 with one home run and two runs, while Bournonville went 2-for-3 with one home run and two RBI. That's the most hits Bournonville has posted since back in April.

Coming up, Lompoc will challenge San Luis Obispo at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Arroyo Grande, they are taking a road trip to take on Atascadero at 4:30 p.m. on Monday.
