Softball Game Preview: George Jenkins Eagles vs. Land O' Lakes Gators

The George Jenkins Eagles will head out to face off against the Land O' Lakes Gators at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. George Jenkins' pitching crew has only allowed 3.1 runs per game this season, so Land O' Lakes' hitters will have their work cut out for them.

On Wednesday, George Jenkins was able to grind out a solid win over Fort Meade, taking the game 6-2. The victory continues a trend for the Eagles in their matchups with the Miners: they've now won four in a row.

Olivia Friel was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, tossing 2.1 innings while giving up no earned runs off four hits. She has been consistent : she hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going a perfect 1-for-1 with two RBI and one double. Those two RBI gave her a new career-high.

Friel wasn't the only one making solid contact as five players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Alaina Kennedy, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-3. Riley Pate was another, scoring a run while going 1-for-2.

Meanwhile, Land O' Lakes fell victim to Sunlake and their airtight pitching crew on Tuesday. They lost 6-0 to the Seahawks. The game marked the first time this season in which the Gators were not able to get on the board.

George Jenkins' record is now 11-7. As for Land O' Lakes, they now have a losing record of 9-10.

George Jenkins couldn't quite get it done against Land O' Lakes in their previous meeting back in April of 2024 as they fell 4-1. Can the Eagles avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
