The home team had won the previous four meetings between Wolcott RVT and Whitney RVT, and Whitney RVT kept the tradition alive. The Wildcats lost 25-13 to the Owls on Monday.
Wolcott RVT got a massive performance out of Morgan Thompson, who went 3-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and two doubles. Ava Schaer was another key player, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with three stolen bases and three runs.
Meanwhile, Wilcox RVT strolled into their game on Monday with a perfect record and they left with the same. They put the hurt on Bullard-Havens with a sharp 14-1 victory. Considering the Wildcats have won eight matches by more than six runs this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.
Chloe Enger was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She struck out 12 batters over five innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't tossed less than nine strikeouts any time she's pitched this season. She was also stellar in the batter's box, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with three runs, one triple, and one stolen base.
In other batting news, Cierra Maggiore and Sam Olechowski did most of the damage at the plate: Maggiore went a perfect 3-for-3 with three RBI and two runs, while Olechowski got on base in three of her four plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. Another player making a difference was Ariana Suarez, who went 2-for-4 with three RBI, one stolen base, and one run.
Wilcox RVT always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .606. That was just more of the same: they've now posted an OBP of .500 or higher every time they've taken the field this season.
Wilcox RVT's win was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 9-0. Those road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 15.8 runs over those games. As for Wolcott RVT, they have been struggling recently as they've lost five of their last six games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 3-7 record this season.
Wednesday's contest might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Wolcott RVT has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .463. However, it's not like Wilcox RVT struggles in that department as they've averaged .604. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
