Softball Recap: University Hawks vs. Morgantown Mohigans
University faced Morgantown in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Saturday. The Hawks walked away with an 8-5 win over the Mohigans. This was a revenge game for the Hawks: when they faced off against the Mohigans last Friday, they had to take a 6-3 loss.
Sophia Lehosit spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered five earned runs on six hits and racked up nine Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in eight consecutive appearances.
At the plate, Maddie Campbell was incredible, going 3-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. The team also got some help courtesy of Kelsey Park, who went 3-for-4 with two RBI and one run.
University was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .400. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Morgantown only posted a batting average of .185.
