Softball Recap: Thursday's Defeat Ends San Benito's Winning Streak

San Benito dropped their record down to 15-11-1 on Thursday, which also ended the team's three-game streak of wins. They fell 4-1 to the Harlingen Cardinals. Having soared to a lofty 13 runs in the game before, the Greyhounds couldn't push the score so high this time.

As for Harlingen, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won nine of their last ten contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 18-9 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.7 runs over those games.

For Harlingen's part, Bethany Hernandez was incredible, firing off two home runs while going 2-for-4. Those two home runs gave Hernandez a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Amaris Gomez, who got on base in all four of her plate appearances.

Coming up, San Benito will face off against Sharyland at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. Harlingen does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
