Springfield is 8-1 against Las Animas since October of 2015 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Friday. The Longhorns will be playing in front of their home fans against the Trojans at 7:00 p.m. The two teams have allowed few points on average (Springfield 15, Las Animas 14.5) so any points scored will be well earned.

Springfield hadn't beaten Hoehne on the road since September 11, 2015 but that history sure didn't bother them on Friday. The Longhorns enjoyed a cozy 40-26 win over the Farmers. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Longhorns.

On the defensive side of the ball, a lot of the credit has to go to Springfield's defense and their 3.5 sacks. Logan Spires refused to say out of the backfield, picking up 1.5 sacks all by himself.

Meanwhile, Las Animas faced Dayspring Christian Academy in a battle between two of the state's top teams last Saturday. The Trojans lost 36-12 to the Eagles. The defensive woes were uncharacteristic for the Trojans, who until this contest were averaging 14.5 points allowed.

Although Las Animas took the loss, they still got scores from Jerome Ethridge and Braydon Ortiz.

Springfield's victory bumped their record up to 3-1. As for Las Animas, their defeat was their first of the season and also makes their record 3-1.

Friday's matchup might be decided on the ground. Springfield has been unstoppable on the ground this season, having averaged 242.8 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like Las Animas struggles in that department as they've been averaging 215.8 rushing yards. There's a good chance Friday's game turns into a tough fight on the ground.

Springfield strolled past Las Animas when the teams last played back in November of 2024 by a score of 24-8. Will the Longhorns repeat their success, or do the Trojans have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
