After a string of eight wins, Vel Phillips Memorial's good fortune finally ran out on Saturday. They fell 53-44 to the Edgewood Crusaders. While losing is never fun, the Spartans can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Wisconsin basketball rankings (they are ranked 72nd, while the Crusaders are ranked ninth).

Vel Phillips Memorial's loss ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 14-4. As for Edgewood, the win was the 15th in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 15-1.

Vel Phillips Memorial wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 66-48 victory against Sun Prairie East on the 28th. Edgewood has also already played their next match, a 53-42 win against Xavier on the 28th.
