Volleyball Recap: Alvin Comes Up Short

Alvin lost against Dawson back in October of 2024, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Yellowjackets came up short against the Eagles, falling 3-0. The Yellowjackets have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

While Alvin was kept off the board, it wasn't for a lack of trying: they cut into Dawson's winning margin in every set. The match finished with set scores of 25-8, 25-11, 25-21.

Joana Cach paced Alvin's offense, picking up ten kills. Cach got some help from Paige Helpenstill and her 29 assists. Cach was also solid from the service line: she led the team with five aces.

Alvin's defeat dropped their record down to 10-19. As for Dawson, they pushed their record up to 24-4 with the win, which was their 15th straight on the road dating back to last season.

We've got plenty of inter-district action coming up soon. Alvin will challenge rival Dobie at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Meanwhile, Dawson is set to square off against their familiar foe Manvel at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
