Basketball Recap: Eureka Comes Up Short

Eureka suffered their closest defeat since January 23, 2024 on Tuesday. They fell just short of the Flanagan-Cornell Falcons by a score of 56-54. The Hornets were not able to make up for their loss to the Falcons from their previous meeting back in January of 2024.

Flanagan-Cornell's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Rudra Patel, who posted 11 points and six assists. The dominant performance gave Patel a new career-high in assists. The team also got some help courtesy of Logan Ruddy, who earned 14 points along with seven rebounds and three blocks.

Eureka's defeat dropped their record down to 8-8. As for Flanagan-Cornell, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 12-4.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Eureka will host Gibson City-Melvin-Sibley at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Flanagan-Cornell, they will look to defend their home court on Saturday against Roanoke-Benson at 4:00 p.m.
