Football Recap: Christian Falls Despite Big Games from Kai Rosier and Kaleb Runkle + How To Watch

Christian extended their losing streak to five on Friday, dropping them down to 1-5. They received a blow as they fell 41-24 to the La Jolla Vikings. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Patriots of the 49-19 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in October of 2023.

Despite the defeat, Christian had strong showings from Kaleb Runkle, who rushed for 71 yards and one touchdown on only seven carries, and Kai Rosier, who picked up 115 receiving yards and one score.

As for La Jolla, they pushed their record up to 4-2 with the victory, which was their fourth straight at home dating back to last season. Given their advantage in MaxPreps' California football rankings (they are ranked 204th, while Christian is ranked 463rd) , the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

La Jolla's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Aiden Farrell, who rushed for 194 yards and one TD while picking up 8.4 yards per carry, and also picked up 50 receiving yards. With that strong performance, Farrell is now averaging an impressive 104.5 rushing yards per game. Another player making a difference was Ty Tortorice, who threw for 194 yards and three touchdowns while completing 73.9% of his passes.

Looking ahead, Christian is taking a road trip to take on Scripps Ranch at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for La Jolla, they will welcome Lincoln at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The two teams might be coming in a bit winded given these two teams combined for 812 yards in their previous games.
