Volleyball Recap: Lincoln-Way East Takes a Loss

Lincoln-Way East dropped down to 10-7 on Saturday, ending the team's three-game streak of wins. They fell just short of the Minooka Indians by a score of 2-1. The Griffins were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Indians apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in September of 2024.

Kolby Ross paced Lincoln-Way East's offense, picking up 19 kills. Ross got some help from Maggie Simon and her 37 assists. Ross also made an impact serving: she shared the team lead in aces with Klarke Mosby, racking up three apiece.

As for Minooka, the victory (which was their fifth in a row) raised their record to 13-6. The game was the first time they have beaten Lincoln-Way East on their court since September 17, 2019.

Minooka was led to victory by Maddie Dostall and Kennedy Walker. Dostall had 17 digs, while Walker had 12 assists and six digs. That's the most digs Dostall has posted over her last seven matchups.

Lincoln-Way East and Minooka should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage in the MaxPreps Illinois Rankings. The Griffins will face off against Sandburg at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday with a big rank advantage (50 vs. 182). Meanwhile, Minooka (ranked 41st) will meet Joliet Central (ranked 425th) at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
