Soccer Game Preview: Pacifica vs. Ventura

The Pacifica Tritons will challenge the Ventura Cougars at 5:15 p.m. on Tuesday. Neither team made it on the board the last time they hit the pitch, so they've probably got a bit of extra motivation.

Pacifica is headed into Tuesday's matchup following a draw, the team's first since November 26. Neither they nor Buena could gain the upper hand on Thursday so the two teams had to settle for a 1-1 draw.

Despite a strong season so far, Ventura has seen their luck take a bit of a downturn recently. They were a single goal away from ending the streak, but they lost a 2-1 heartbreaker at the hands of Santa Barbara. The loss was a bit of a surprise, as Ventura came into the match with a sizable advantage in MaxPreps' California soccer rankings (they are ranked 277th, while Santa Barbara are ranked 615th).

With that draw, Pacifica's record moves to 13-4-3. As for Ventura, their loss dropped their record down to 11-6-2.

Pacifica skirted past Ventura 2-1 in their previous meeting on January 12th. Will the Tritons repeat their success, or do the Cougars have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
