Basketball Recap: Richlands Takes a Loss

Richlands was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their seventh straight loss. They fell 37-27 to the White Oak Vikings. Sadly, that's the second time they've come up short against the Wildcats this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 53-32 last Tuesday.

White Oak's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Zamarah Rawls, who posted four points along with 14 rebounds, eight steals, and seven blocks. That's the most boards Rawls has posted since back in February of 2024. Another player making a difference was Aariel Jemison, who had 12 points in addition to four steals and three blocks.

Richlands' defeat dropped their record down to 3-13. As for White Oak, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 4-9.

Richlands and White Oak could both be facing uphill battles in their next games considering their disadvantage in the MaxPreps North Carolina Rankings. Richlands will take on West Carteret at 6:30 p.m. on Friday down 270 places (509 vs. 239). Meanwhile, White Oak (ranked 385th) will meet Croatan (ranked 141st) at 6:30 p.m. on Friday.
