Softball Recap: Hesperia Takes a Loss

Hesperia's tournament run continued when they took on Academy of Careers & Exploration on Wednesday. The Hesperia Scorpions took a 13-8 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Academy of Careers & Exploration Eagle. The Scorpions have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Malena Griego put in work no matter where she played. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run while striking out nine over four innings pitched. She also allowed six hits, marking her first of the season. She was also big at the plate, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-3.

In other batting news, Marlie Munoz made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and scored a run while going 1-for-2. Angie Villolobos was another key player, scoring a run while going 1-for-2.

Hesperia now has a losing record of 2-3. As for Academy of Careers & Exploration, they now have a winning record of 2-1.

Looking ahead, Hesperia will face off against Granite Hills at 2:00 p.m. on Friday. Hesperia is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8.2 runs per game this season. As for Academy of Careers & Exploration, they are headed away from home for the first time to square off against Academy for Academic Excellence at 3:30 p.m. on Friday.
