Basketball Recap: Arapahoe Takes a Loss

Arapahoe lost against Valor Christian back in December of 2023, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Monday. The Arapahoe Warriors had to suffer through a 72-34 loss at the hands of the Valor Christian Eagles. The Warriors were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 42-12.

Despite the loss, Arapahoe still got an impressive performance from Gianna Smith, who posted 21 points. That was a full 61.8% of Arapahoe's points, marking the eighth time in a row Smith has earned more than a third of the team's points.

Valor Christian was led to victory by Quinn VanSickle and Peyton Jones. VanSickle went 7-for-14 to rack up 23 points in addition to five assists and four steals, while Jones went 10-for-15 en route to 25 points. Thanks to that strong game, Jones now owns an excellent 40.8% three-point shooting accuracy. Camryn Gunter was another key player, putting up six points and seven rebounds.

Arapahoe has traveled a rocky road recently having lost five of their last six matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 11-10 record this season. Valor Christian pushed their record up to 20-2 with the victory, which was their 15th straight at home dating back to last season.

Arapahoe has already played their next contest, a 77-21 win against Smoky Hill on the 20th. As for Valor Christian, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, a 71-29 victory against Bear Creek on the 19th.
