Basketball Game Preview: South Webster Jeeps vs. Portsmouth West Senators

The South Webster Jeeps will face off against the Portsmouth West Senators at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. South Webster is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 63.5 points per game this season.

Last Tuesday, everything went South Webster's way against Waverly as South Webster made off with a 64-42 victory. Given the Jeeps' advantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 47th, while the Tigers are ranked 395th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

South Webster got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Christian White out in front who went 7 of 11 en route to 18 points and six boards. Those 18 points gave White a new career-high. Hunter Barnard was another key player, going 5 for 9 on his way to 12 points.

South Webster smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 13 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive boards in six consecutive contests.

Meanwhile, Portsmouth West lost 70-47 to Minford on Tuesday. That's two games in a row now that the Senators have lost by exactly 23 points.

Portsmouth West's defeat was their fourth straight at home, which dropped their record down to 9-9. As for South Webster, their victory bumped their record up to 15-1.

Everything went South Webster's way against Portsmouth West in their previous meeting last Tuesday, as South Webster made off with a 65-40 win. Will South Webster repeat their success, or does Portsmouth West have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
