Softball Game Preview: Skyline Hawks vs. Kettle Run Cougars

The Skyline Hawks will head out to take on the Kettle Run Cougars at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this game.

Skyline couldn't beat Brentsville District on Tuesday even though they stacked four runs on them in the seventh inning. The Hawks took a 7-4 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Tigers. The Hawks have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Emma Veitenthal made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 3-for-4 with one double and one RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Kyleigh Williams, who went 1-for-2 with one run and one RBI.

Meanwhile, Kettle Run was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They lost 11-3 to Fauquier.

Kettle Run saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Emerson Golden, who went 1-for-3 with one triple and one run.

Skyline now has a losing record of 8-9. As for Kettle Run, their defeat dropped their record down to 7-6.

Fans could be in store for some top-tier slugging on Friday. Skyline hasn't had any problems when it comes to power this season, having averaged 0.6 home runs per game. However, it's not like Kettle Run struggles in that department as they've been averaging 0.6 home runs. With so much power on both teams, it'll be down to the pitchers to keep the mound locked down.

Skyline was able to grind out a solid win over Kettle Run in their previous matchup back in April, winning 7-3. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Hawks since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
