Soccer Game Preview: Mira Costa vs. South

The Mira Costa Mustangs will face off against the South Spartans at 3:30 p.m. on Thursday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Mira Costa has 11 straight victories, South has three straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the pitch.

Mira Costa is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of California's top teams: Palos Verdes, who was ranked 17th at the time (Mira Costa was ranked third). Mira Costa narrowly escaped with a win as the team sidled past Palos Verdes 2-1. That's two games straight that the Mustangs have won by just one goal.

Meanwhile, Tuesday just wasn't the day for South's offense. They fell just short of El Segundo by a score of 1-0 on Tuesday.

South now has a losing record at 6-7. As for Mira Costa, their victory bumped their record up to 15-1.
