Baseball Recap: United South Triumphs

United South is still undefeated this season after their contest against Uvalde on Saturday, but Uvalde came as close as anyone has to beating them. The Panthers skirted past the Coyotes/Lobos (for girls) 12-10. That's two games straight that the Panthers have won by exactly two runs.

David Onofre was excellent, going a perfect 1-for-1 with two RBI, one run, and one double. Those two RBI gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Juan P Briseno, who went 1-for-2 with one triple and one run.

United South was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .417. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .364 or higher every time they've taken the field this season.

United South's win bumped their record up to 7-0. As for Uvalde, they are on a seven-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-6.

Looking ahead, United South will be taking part in a tournament against Harlingen South at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Uvalde, they will head out to square off against Harlandale at 7:00 p.m. on Monday.
