Basketball Game Preview: Valor Christian Lions vs. Lanier Christian Academy Lightning

Having just played yesterday, the Valor Christian Lions will get right back to it and host the Lanier Christian Academy Lightning at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. The two teams are strolling into their contests after big wins in their previous games.

Lanier Christian Academy will be up against a hot Valor Christian squad: the team just extended their winning streak to three. Everything went Valor Christian's way against Furtah Prep on Wednesday as Valor Christian made off with a 64-39 victory. Given the Lions' advantage in MaxPreps' Georgia basketball rankings (they are ranked 74th, while the Falcons are ranked 271st), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Meanwhile, Lanier Christian Academy made easy work of Peachtree Academy on Thursday and carried off a 48-23 win.

Valor Christian better keep an eye on Emma Flowers. She was instrumental in Lanier Christian Academy's win, dropping a double-double on 12 points and ten steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Adelyn Gough, who posted 11 points in addition to five rebounds and three steals.

Lanier Christian Academy smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 12 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 11 offensive rebounds in three consecutive matches.

Valor Christian pushed their record up to 16-2 with the victory, which was their 21st straight at home dating back to last season. The wins came thanks to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 29.2 points per game. As for Lanier Christian Academy, their win bumped their record up to 10-8.
