Softball Recap: St. Francis Drops Season-High Score on River City

St. Francis extended their losing streak to three on Saturday, dropping their season record down to 2-13 in the process. They were a single run away from ending the streak, but they lost a 15-14 heartbreaker at the hands of the River City Raiders. On the bright side, the 14- run performance marked the Troubadours' highest-scoring match to date.

Alexis McFarland made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 4-for-5 with two stolen bases, three runs, and one triple. Claire Krotine also deserves some recognition as she hit her first triple of the season.

As for River City, their victory ended a five-game drought at home and bumped them up to 4-15. The high-scoring performance was a welcome turnaround for their hitters, who had struggled in the games prior.

On River City's side, Emily Sauceda was incredible, going 3-for-6 with one home run, two stolen bases, and five RBI. That's the most stolen bases Sauceda has posted since back in March. Another player making a difference was Azzy Mendez, who went 3-for-5 with three runs and one double.

Coincidentally, St. Francis and River City will both be playing Pleasant Grove the next time they take the field. The Troubadours will head out to face the Eagles at 11:30 a.m. on Saturday, while the Raiders will play them later in the day, at 1:45 p.m.
