Basketball Recap: Dixon Comes Up Short

Dixon was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their eighth straight loss. They might have been a little too into the holiday spirit, gifting the Northside - Jacksonville Monarchs an easy 66-46 victory. While losing is never fun, the Bulldogs can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 611th, while the Monarchs are ranked 296th).

Despite the defeat, Dixon saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Grady Adams went 6 for 13 on his way to 16 points. Adams is trending in the right direction considering he's improved his point production for three straight games. Dylan Langston was another key player, putting up ten points.

Northside - Jacksonville's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Reginald Gray III led the charge by almost dropping a double-double on 18 points and nine boards. The team also got some help courtesy of Joaliel Caraballo, who almost dropped a double-double on 12 points and nine steals.

Dixon's loss dropped their record down to 1-8. As for Northside - Jacksonville, their record is now 2-4.

Dixon wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 75-45 defeat against Lejeune on the 27th. As for Northside - Jacksonville, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 48-46 win against D.H. Conley on the 19th.
