Softball Recap: Amityville Memorial Warriors vs. Harborfields Tornadoes
Amityville Memorial extended their losing streak (dating back to last season) to 21 on Monday, dropping their season record down to 0-12 in the process. They lost 17-0 to the Harborfields Tornadoes. Unfortunately, that's the third time they've come up short against the Tornadoes this season, with their most recent defeat being a 24-5 loss last Tuesday.
As for Harborfields, their win ended a 17-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 4-14. The high-scoring performance was a welcome turnaround for their hitters, who had struggled in the games prior.
For Harborfields' part, they got a great performance from Lily Thompsett as she didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out eight over five innings pitched.
On the hitting side, Christiana Ebe was a standout: she got on base in all four of her plate appearances with three runs and one double. The team also got some help courtesy of Sofia Riaz, who went 1-for-4 with five RBI and one run.
Looking ahead, Amityville Memorial will be playing in front of their home fans against Hauppauge at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Harborfields does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
