Baseball Game Preview: Shalom Christian Academy Flames vs. Southern Huntingdon County Rockets

The Shalom Christian Academy Flames will venture away from home to challenge the Southern Huntingdon County Rockets at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Shalom Christian Academy has three straight victories, Southern Huntingdon County has five straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the field.

On Thursday, Shalom Christian Academy earned a 4-1 win over Turkeyfoot Valley Area.

Carter Defenderfer spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered a run (which was unearned) on two hits and racked up 13 Ks. He also tossed no walks, which is notable because Shalom Christian Academy is undefeated when he allows at most one walk, but 5-8 otherwise.

On the hitting side, Shalom Christian Academy saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Drake Wenger, who went 1-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double. The Flames are undefeated when Wenger posts two or more runs, but 2-8 otherwise.

Meanwhile, Southern Huntingdon County came up short against McConnellsburg on Saturday and fell 6-3.

Southern Huntingdon County's loss dropped their record down to 2-15. As for Shalom Christian Academy, the victory got them back to even at 8-8.
