Baseball Recap: Spoto Comes Up Short

Spoto fell victim to Brandon and their airtight pitching crew on Tuesday. They took a 3-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Eagles. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Eagles this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 4-3 back in February.

William Barrios was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he pitched 6.2 innings while giving up three earned runs off six hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Spoto saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Devin Dukes, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base. Dukes is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last three games he's played.

Spoto has traveled a rocky road recently, having lost five of their last six contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 7-8 record this season. Brandon has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four games. That's provided a massive bump to their 6-9 record this season.

Spoto has already played their next matchup, a 13-3 victory against Blake on the 19th. As for Brandon, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, a 10-0 defeat against Riverview on the 19th.
