Basketball Recap: Monticello Takes a Loss

Monticello was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their fourth straight loss. They lost 67-45 to the Valley Central Vikings. The Panthers were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 40-19.

Despite the loss, Monticello still got an impressive performance from Quenten Liciaga, who went 6-for-12 en route to 17 points. What's more, Liciaga also posted a 50% shooting accuracy, which is the highest he's achieved since back in December of 2024. Anthony Ortiz was another key player, putting up eight points.

Monticello's defeat dropped their record down to 2-15. As for Valley Central, they pushed their record up to 12-4 with the victory, which was their third straight at home.

Monticello has already played their next match (against Warwick), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. As for Valley Central, they wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 45-42 loss against Newburgh Free Academy on the 12th.
