Volleyball Game Preview: Jonesboro Hurricane vs. Bentonville West Wolverines

The Jonesboro Hurricane will take on the Bentonville West Wolverines on Monday. Both come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Jonesboro barely beat Greene County Tech the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Hurricane blew past the Golden Eagles 3-0 on Thursday.

The victory didn't come easy: Greene County Tech scored at least 19 points in every set. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-22, 25-22, 25-19.

Olivia Than and Emilee Than were among the main playmakers for Jonesboro as the former had five digs and two aces and the latter had three digs and one assist. That's the most aces Olivia has posted since back in September.

Meanwhile, Bentonville West faced Bentonville in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Thursday. The Wolverines won by a set and slipped past the Tigers 3-2. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Wolverines have posted since October 7th.

Jonesboro better keep an eye on Jayden Gribble. She was instrumental in Bentonville West's win, getting 25 assists and five digs. Gribble is on a roll when it comes to assists, as she's now posted 14 or more in each of the last four games she's played.

Bentonville West has been performing well recently as they've won nine of their last 12 matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 20-11 record this season. As for Jonesboro, their victory bumped their record up to 16-10-1.

Jonesboro suffered a grim 3-0 defeat to Bentonville West in their previous meeting back in October of 2022. Can the Hurricane avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
