Preview: Evergreen Cougars vs. Ponderosa Mustangs
Two dominant guards in Drew Yager and Noah Wilhelm are getting ready to go toe-to-toe. The Evergreen Cougars will be playing at home against the Ponderosa Mustangs at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.
Last Wednesday, Evergreen came up short against D'Evelyn and fell 54-45. Evergreen has not had much luck with D'Evelyn recently, as the team's come up short the last four times they've met.
Yager put forth a good effort for the losing side as he scored 20 points along with three steals. He hasn't dropped below 15points for four straight games. Another player making a difference was Lukas McCanna, who scored six points along with nine rebounds.
Meanwhile, Ponderosa faced Douglas County in a battle between two of the state's top teams. Ponderosa took a 66-60 hit to the loss column at the hands of Douglas County. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their last game on Tuesday (59), Ponderosa still had to take the loss.
Evergreen has traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost six of their last seven contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-9 record this season. As for Ponderosa, their loss dropped their record down to 10-3.
