Basketball Game Preview: Uxbridge Spartans vs. Oxford Pirates

The Uxbridge Spartans will take on the Oxford Pirates at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: both posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.

Uxbridge is headed in fresh off scoring the most points they have all season. They took their match on Monday with ease, bagging a 67-37 win over Southbridge. With that victory, the Spartans brought their scoring average up to 50.5 points per game.

Among those leading the charge was James Sanford, who posted 18 points. Those 18 points gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Talen Rosborough, who put up nine points.

Meanwhile, Oxford opened the new year with a less-than-successful 72-64 defeat to Prouty.

Uxbridge is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six contests, which provided a nice bump to their 5-3 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 54.3 points per game. As for Oxford, their loss dropped their record down to 2-4.
