Football Recap: Pearl River Finds Playoff Glory Versus Pelham Memorial

Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only Pearl River walked away with it. They came out on top against the Pelham Memorial Pelicans by a score of 21-14 on Saturday. The Pirates haven't had any issues with the Pelicans recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive win against them.

Pearl River's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from TJ Lanese, who threw for 181 yards and a pair of TDs on only 16 passes, and also rushed for 42 yards. Kieran Fitzgerald was another key player, picking up 113 receiving yards and one touchdown.

Pearl River didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off five passes before the game was over. Liam Murphy and Andrew Sexton were the leaders of the group effort as each produced two apiece. Danny Fitzgerald has been hot, having also posted seven or more total tackles the last eight times he's played. Another thorn in Pelham Memorial's side was Thomas Mathews, who made 20 total tackles (1.0 for loss).

Pearl River's victory bumped their record up to 6-3. As for Pelham Memorial, their defeat ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 6-3.

As of now, neither Pearl River nor the Pelicans have any future games scheduled.
