Recap: Cherokee Trail Cougars vs. Arapahoe Warriors
The Cherokee Trail Cougars had already won six in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 30.3 points), and they went ahead and made it seven on Saturday. They came out on top against Arapahoe by a score of 52-43. This was payback for Cherokee Trail, who suffered a 61-52 defeat the last time these two teams met.
Cherokee Trail's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Delainey Miller, who dropped a double-double on 14 points and ten rebounds. Another player making a difference was Aaliyah Broadus, who scored 12 points.
Despite the loss, Arapahoe still got an impressive performance from Liz Gentry, who dropped a double-double on 21 points and ten rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Gianna Smith, who scored 11 points along with two steals.
Cherokee Trail's victory was their eighth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 15-2. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 67.1 points per game. As for Arapahoe, they have been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 9-7 record this season.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Cherokee Trail will take on the Trailblazers at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. Overland will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Colorado Rankings (they are ranked 92nd, while the Cougars are ranked second). As for Arapahoe, they will look to defend their home court on Wednesday against the Raptors at 7:00 p.m. Hopefully Eaglecrest focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 13 last Friday.
