AAAA Region 6A recap November 19, 2013
Marist added to the longest winning streak in AAAA Region 6A this week by beating Stephens County, 41-13. The victory was the eighth in a row for the team.
Marist took down the Indians 41-13 last week, the largest margin of any game. Chase Martenson threw for 98 yards and 2 touchdowns and ran for 75 yards in the win.
Alan Chadwick's team's offense was unstoppable this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. On the ground Martenson chipped in 75 yards. Trey Oates helped Marist's passing attack out by catching 1 ball for 21 yards.
Martenson was the most successful running back in the league this week. Teammate Matt Perez added to the ground attack by rushing for 65 yards.
Leading the league in both passing and receiving yards, the War Eagles' Martenson and Oates have proven to be a lethal combination. 6-1 quarterback Martenson has thrown for 611 yards this season, while Oates has 8 catches for 175 yards. Chamblee's Xzavier Shugars leads the league in rushing yards with 908.
Shugars has rushed for 908 yards on 154 carries so far this year.
