Softball Recap: Lejeune Comes Up Short

Lejeune dropped to 7-8 on Friday, ending the team's three-game streak of wins at home. They lost 13-0 to the Northside - Pinetown Panthers. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Panthers this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 14-0 on Tuesday.

Lejeune saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Breslyn Weeks, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base.

As for Northside - Pinetown, the victory (which was their eighth in a row) raised their record to 14-5. The result was nothing new for the Panthers, who have now won 11 games by seven runs or more so far this season.

On Northside - Pinetown's side, Ella Kate Hanna was a standout: she went 4-for-5 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one triple. Another player making a difference was Sophie Berry, who went 2-for-5 with three runs, two doubles, and one RBI.

Looking ahead, Lejeune will head out to challenge Pamlico County at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Northside - Pinetown, they will challenge Southside at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Seahawks have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 15.93 runs per game on average), something the Panthers will no doubt try to take advantage of.
