Basketball Game Preview: Yuma Criminals vs. Tempe Buffaloes

Two dominant guards in Bonnie Amador and Kiari Montanez-Woods are getting ready to go toe-to-toe. The Yuma Criminals will look to defend their home court on Friday against the Tempe Buffaloes at 5:30 p.m. Yuma will be strutting in after a victory while Tempe will be coming in after a defeat.

Yuma is headed in fresh off scoring the most points they have all season. They claimed a resounding 86-26 win over Cortez. The Criminals have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won six matchups by 22 points or more this season.

Yuma can attribute much of their success to Legend Redmond, who went 13 of 17 en route to 31 points in addition to seven steals and six assists, and Amador, who went 13 for 29 on her way to 31 points and six steals. Redmond is crushing it when it comes to steals: she's grabbed at least two every time she's taken the court this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Tyleigh Jim, who posted six points along with eight boards and four steals.

They weren't the only one working in the assists department: Yuma was working as a unit and finished the game with 21 assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.

Meanwhile, Tempe was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their ninth straight loss. They were four points away from ending the streak, but they lost a 48-44 heartbreaker at the hands of Desert Sunrise.

Yuma's victory bumped their record up to 7-4. As for Tempe, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-10.
