Basketball Recap: Eastern Hancock Snags Eighth Victory in Last Nine Games

Eastern Hancock won the last time they faced Indianapolis Scecina Memorial, and McKenzie Koch did her part to make sure it happened again. The Eastern Hancock Royals simply couldn't be stopped on Tuesday as they easily beat the Indianapolis Scecina Memorial Crusaders 69-30 thanks in part to Koch, who went 14 for 27 on her way to 33 points in addition to seven assists and five rebounds. Her evening made it 23 games in a row in which she has scored at least ten points.

Ellie Meyer was another key player, putting up two points along with ten boards and seven steals. That's the most steals she has posted since back in November of 2024.

When it comes to explaining why Indianapolis Scecina Memorial lost, don't look at Kaila Leath. Despite the final result, she posted nine points in addition to five rebounds and three blocks. Leath has been hot recently, having posted three or more blocks the last three times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Hillari Lathrop, who scored eight points.

Eastern Hancock has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won eight of their last nine games, which provided a nice bump to their 20-3 record this season. They've dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 29.1 points. As for Indianapolis Scecina Memorial, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 10-12.

Eastern Hancock will square off against Irvington Preparatory Academy at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Indianapolis Scecina Memorial does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
