Basketball Game Preview: Yuma Catholic Shamrocks vs. ALA - West Foothills Guardians

The Yuma Catholic Shamrocks will head out on the road to square off against the ALA - West Foothills Guardians at 3:30 p.m. on Saturday. Both come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Yuma Catholic took a loss when they played away from home on Tuesday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Thursday. They came out on top against Highland Prep by a score of 44-32.

Meanwhile, ALA - West Foothills waltzed into their game on Thursday with six straight wins... but they left with seven. They blew past the Bulldogs 52-32. Given the Guardians' advantage in MaxPreps' Arizona basketball rankings (they are ranked 90th, while the Bulldogs are ranked 213th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Yuma Catholic is also on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six contests, which provided a nice bump to their 13-7 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 60.2 points per game. As for ALA - West Foothills, they pushed their record up to 11-6 with the win, which was their sixth straight at home.

Yuma Catholic came up short against ALA - West Foothills in their previous matchup back in February of 2024, falling 44-35. Can Yuma Catholic avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
