Softball Game Preview: Elizabethtown Panthers vs. Mercy Jaguars

The Elizabethtown Panthers will face off against the Mercy Jaguars at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.

Elizabethtown is probably headed into the match with a chip on their shoulder considering Central Hardin just ended the team's six-game winning streak on Thursday. They took a 9-5 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Bruins.

Maci Singleton was cooking despite her team's loss, going 2-for-4 with two runs, one double, and one RBI. Another player making a difference was Alyssa Philpot, who went 1-for-3 with one double and one RBI.

Meanwhile, Mercy was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their fourth straight loss. They fell 3-0 to Anderson County. The game marked the first time this year in which the Jaguars were not able to get on the board.

Mercy's defeat dropped their record down to 11-10. As for Elizabethtown, their loss was their first in the district, dropping their district record down to 4-1 and their overall record down to 9-6.

Elizabethtown skirted past Mercy 2-1 when the teams last played back in March of 2024. Will the Panthers repeat their success, or do the Jaguars have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
