Baseball Game Preview: Hayden Lobos vs. Valley Lutheran Flames

The Hayden Lobos will head out to face off against the Valley Lutheran Flames at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Hayden's pitching crew has only allowed 3.1 runs per game this season, so Valley Lutheran's hitters will have their work cut out for them.

Hayden's usually-dominant pitching crew will be looking to make up for Saturday's struggle, when Globe hitters got past them. The Lobos lost 15-4 to the Tigers on Saturday. The Lobos' defeat signaled the end of their ten-game winning streak.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Valley Lutheran). Everything went their way against Maryvale Prep on Friday as they made off with a 26-0 win. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Flames.

Ethan Brown made a splash while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only one hit while striking out 12 over four innings pitched. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, scoring four runs and stealing a base while going 3-for-5. He has become a key player for Valley Lutheran: the team is undefeated when he posts at least two runs, but 0-4 otherwise.

In other batting news, Valley Lutheran got a massive performance out of David Dadah, who scored two runs and stole four bases while going 1-for-2. With that strong performance, Dadah is now averaging an impressive 1.1 stolen bases per game. Another player making a difference was Josh McLaughlin, who scored two runs and stole two bases while getting on base in four of his five plate appearances.

Valley Lutheran kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Maryvale Prep only managed one hit.

Valley Lutheran picked up their first road victory, bumping their record up to 3-4. As for Hayden, their loss dropped their record down to 17-3.
