Baseball Recap: Pomona Picks Up Fourth Consecutive Win

Pomona waltzed into their matchup on Saturday with three straight wins... but they left with four. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 7-5 win over the Conifer Lobos. The Panthers have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Lobos, too.

Truett Neiman and Tyler Sherill dominated on the mound. Neiman pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits, while Sherill pitched six innings while giving up five earned runs off seven hits. Neiman has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks any time he's pitched this season.

On the hitting side, Damani Chavez was incredible, going 3-for-4 with three doubles, three RBI, and two runs. Those three hits gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Maddux Najera, who got on base in all four of his plate appearances with two runs and one stolen base.

Pomona kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. They are a perfect 3-0 when they post 11 or more hits.

Pomona now has a winning record of 6-5. As for Conifer, their loss dropped their record down to 6-4-1.

Coming up, Pomona will head out on the road to square off against Dakota Ridge at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Panthers' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Eagles have averaged an impressive 6.3 runs per game this season. As for Conifer, they will be playing at home against D'Evelyn at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. The Lobos' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Jaguars have averaged an impressive 9.6 runs per game this season.
