Sangre de Cristo fell on hard times earlier this season, but after back-to-back wins it seems like their luck might finally be changing. They came out on top against the Centennial Rams by a score of 43-32 on Thursday. This was a revenge game for the Thunderbirds: when they faced off against the Rams back in January, they had to take a 35-16 loss.

Haylee Freel was a one-woman wrecking crew for Sangre de Cristo as she posted 27 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Jaydra Cordova, who put up nine points.

Several Rams players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Amaya Garcia, who dropped a double-double with 12 points and 15 boards. Garcia is on a roll when it comes to rebounds, as she's now pulled down ten or more in each of the last 15 games she's played. Anai Medina was another key player, almost dropping a double-double with 18 points and nine steals.

Sangre de Cristo's record now sits at 7-13. As for Centennial, their record is now 10-8.

Sangre de Cristo wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next match, a 31-23 victory against Crested Butte on the 28th. As for Centennial, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 46-32 defeat against Custer County on the 28th.
