Softball Preview: Monarch Takes on Centaurus

The Monarch Coyotes will challenge The Centaurus Warriors at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Both come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Monarch's pitching crew heads into the matchup hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Monday. Everything went their way against Mountain Range as they made off with a 9-0 win. Considering the Coyotes have won three games by more than eight runs this season, another big win was nothing new.

The team relied heavily on Kate Church, who got on base in two of her four plate appearances while logging 4 stolen bases, 2 runs, and 2 walks. The team also got some help from Ayla Rose-Knight, who went 2-for-4 while posting 1 home run, 2 stolen bases, and 3 RBI.

Monarch took advantage of their speed and finished the game with 10 stolen bases. That's the most stolen bases they have managed all season.

Centaurus let Loveland stack five runs on them in the sixth inning on Monday but luckily Centaurus prevailed anyway. The Warriors came out on top against the Red Wolves by a score of 8-5.

Centaurus saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Kaitlyn Long, who went a perfect 3-for-3 while logging 3 runs and 1 walk. Long also set a new season-high mark in hits with three.

Monarch's victory ended an eight-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 3-2. As for Centaurus, the win improved their record to 3-1.
